Au début de la première Intifada, quatre jeunes Israéliens sont envoyés dans la bande de Gaza pour rétablir l'ordre. Un jour, un de leurs camarades est tué, écrasé par une machine à laver jetée d'un toit. Les quatre soldats reçoivent alors l'ordre de s'installer dans une maison palestinienne afin de surveiller le village. Catastrophés par leur arrivée, leurs hôtes forcés craignent d'être considérés comme des traîtres. Tour à tour arrogants ou amicaux face à des habitants hostiles, les jeunes militaires ressentent un profond malaise...
